Presidential Scholarships The Presidential Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship awarded in honor of Pope Benedict XVI. This highly competitive four-year, scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who has written a compelling essay in response to one of Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclicals—Deus caritas est, Spe salvi, or Caritas in veritate—demonstrating his or her close reading of the encyclical and careful reflection upon its meaning for Catholics at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The student’s essay must be seven to ten pages in length, double-spaced, with one-inch margins. The student must also have scored at least 1800 on the SAT or at least 26 on the ACT. Recipients of the College’s Presidential Scholarship must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.4 during their four years and must participate in the College’s Honors Program. In order to be considered for this scholarship, the student must have been admitted to the College or have submitted all the necessary information for admission. The College’s president will convene a committee to review the applications and essays in order to determine the award.

Saint Mary Magdalen Scholarship
This essay should also include your motivation for participating in any of the following: The College of Saint Mary Magdalen Choir, community service, liturgy, retreats, and respect for life activities. It also may include your motivation for identifying new initiatives which will strengthen the faith and spiritual life of our college community. The amount of this award varies.

Achievement Awards
Need-based Grants and Scholarships Need-based grants are awarded to both incoming freshmen and upperclassmen from the College of Saint Mary Magdalen General Scholarship Fund, which is supported by annual contributions from our benefactors. In addition, limited scholarships are available to incoming freshmen and upperclassmen from special gifts to the College. Candidates for enrollment are notified of any grant or scholarship award at the time of their acceptance into the College.
These awards are deducted from tuition fees in exchange for work done by the student on campus during the academic year. Click here to download application. Family Discount
For families with two children enrolled at the College, there is a $1,000 discount for each child. FAFSA The College of Saint Mary Magdalen is approved by the Department of Education to participate in the Federal Student Aid Program (Title IV). In order to qualify for a Pell Grant or Federal Direct Loan, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Once the FAFSA is completed, a Student Aid Report will be sent to you and to the college’s Office of Financial Aid. The Office of Financial Aid will then prepare an award summary for you based on the results of your Student Aid Report. Students completing the FAFSA should use the following school code: 022233.
For additional financial assistance, students and their families are encouraged to inquire of private sources such as scholarship programs sponsored by private foundations, or business and professional associations. Local banks and credit unions may offer sources of private financing for eligible students. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information on alternative private loans such as Sally Mae Smart Option Student Loan and Citizens Bank Tru-Fit Student Loan. Financial Aid CalendarJanuary FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid): Complete your FAFSA online (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov) beginning on January 1. Applications for institutional aid also are accepted beginning January 1. You must complete FAFSA to receive federal student aid. At the end of the FAFSA application you will be prompted to list the schools receiving your FAFSA report. Be sure to list The College of Saint Mary Magdalen. Our school code number is 022233. Begin application for any scholarships, grants, and work-study positions offered by the College of Saint Mary Magdalen. The application itself may be downlowded from the college's website. February If you completed your FAFSA in January, be looking for your SAR (Student Aid Report), which is based on your FAFSA information. If you need to make changes, follow the instructions on the SAR and resubmit the FAFSA. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions about the FAFSA or about institutional aid in general. March 15 The College of Saint Mary Magdalen begins making financial aid awards in March. Scholarships, discounts, and work study awards are granted on a first-come, first served basis, so early applications are essential. All documentation for Federal Aid should be in the Financial Aid Office by March 15. The Financial Aid Office will notify all students applying for aid of the specific documents, such as federal tax returns, needed to finish their award package. Students who have not completed the application process will be billed the full cost of attendance and may not be eligible for institutional or federal aid.
Student Loan Website Any student who is accepting federal loans for the first time must go to the Student Loan website of the Department of Education to receive Entrance Counseling and to sign a Master Pomissory Note or MPN. Loan funds will not be disbursed to the college until this is completed. The Financial Aid Office will help you with this, if needed. https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan Students who are graduating will be directed to the Student Loan website to receive Exit Couseling and information about repayment of student loans.
