Policies and Procedures for Admission

The Bachelor of Arts and the Associate of Arts

The College of Saint Mary Magdalen is empowered by the State of New Hampshire to grant the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree and the Associate of Arts Degree.

The following requirements must be met for each degree:

Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies

1. Earn 125 credits.

2. Earn a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

3. Successfully complete the Senior Thesis.

 

Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with Honors

1. Earn 125 credits.

2. Participate in at least six semesters of the Honors Colloquium.

3. Earn a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.

4. Successfully complete the Honors Senior Thesis.

5. Successfully pass a comprehensive examination.

 

Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies

1. Earn 60 credits.

2. Maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

3. Complete the essay for the Associate of Arts degree.

 

The Apostolic Catechetical Diploma

Through a 1983 Vatican Rescript, the College of Saint Mary Magdalen was empowered to award the Apostolic Catechetical Diploma. Catholic students who earn a 2.0 grade point average or higher for each of the eight semesters of the Sacred Scripture, Theology, & Catechesis courses may receive the diploma.

 

Graduation Requirements

Beginning with the graduating class of 2014, the following credits must be earned in each category or type of course to receive the Bachelor of Arts:

Sacred Scripture, Theology, & Catechesis: 24 credit hours

Music & Art: 12 credit hours

Philosophy and Humanities Seminars 40 credit hours

Latin: 12 credit hours

Logic, Geometry, & Science: 24 credit hours

Grammar, Rhetoric, & Thesis: 15 credit hours

Non-Western Comparative Cultures: 4 credit hours

Choir: 8 credit hours

Residency

Enrolled students are required to reside on the campus of the College. A request for an exception to this requirement should be made in writing and submitted to the Dean of Students
