Catechesis III

The students have been instructed thoroughly in their Christian identity and in the baptismal vocation and apostolate. They must now develop their knowledge of Jesus Christ.

In the first semester, the students deepen their understanding of the Person of Christ by reading closely the Gospels of Saints Matthew and John, and two encyclicals of Pope John Paul II: Redeemer of Man and Rich in Mercy.

In the second semester, the students approach the Mystery of the Church by studying Pope Pius XII’s encyclical, On the Mystical Body of Christ, and the Vatican Council II document, The Dogmatic Constitution on the Church. The students then examine the liturgical life of the Roman rite, since it is in the Eucharistic Sacrifice that the divine mysteries are encountered, proclaimed, and celebrated. On Divine Worship by Pope Pius XII and the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy are the primary source materials.
